Maxentius, 307-312. Follis (Bronze, 25 mm, 6.80 g, 6 h), Aquileia, late summer 307. IMP C MAXENTIVS P F AVG Laureate head of Maxentius to right. Rev. CONSERV VRBS SVAE / AQS Roma, on the right, seated left on shield within tetrastyle temple, holding spear with her left hand and handing globe with her right to Maxentius, on the left, standing right and holding scepter with his left hand; at his feet, captive seated to right, head turned to left; on the architrave, she-wolf standing left, suckling Romulus and Remus; at each end of architrave, Eros holding torch with both hands. RIC 113. An attractive example with light traces of silvering and an excellent portrait. Minor areas of weakness, otherwise, extremely fine.
